History of HowtoPublishaBook.org
How to Publish a Book is truly a family business. Both Susan
and Stacey have published successfully in a variety of markets including fiction, non-fiction, textbook, and scholarly genres.
Together we work hard to bring to you, the readers, the best discussions we can regarding the ever-changing world of book
publishing.
As a concept, HowtoPublishaBook.org began as the Raleigh Write 2 Publish Group in Raleigh, North
Carolina in June 2006. Stacey Cochran served as an assistant organizer for a local writers' group, which met monthly at a
library. Each month, the group featured a speaker (an author, a panel of authors, editors, publishers, etc.) to discuss how
to publish a book. By August of 2007, the group had grown to more than 300 members.
Realizing a need
for this kind of featured-speaker discussion on the topic of how to publish a book, Stacey started similar groups in Charlotte,
Wilmington, Greensboro, and Greenville, North Carolina, as well as in Richmond, Virginia and Washington DC.
In August 2007, we launched HowtoPublishaBook.org as an online hub for discussion on the subject of how to publish
a book, how to get a literary agent, and how to market and sell books successfully.
